Only 2 1/2 hours from Cancun's airport, but that short distance represents a vast difference in vacation attitude. In Holbox you will find no discos, no tour busses, no shopping malls, no mob scenes on the beach.
Here you will prefer to spend time strolling miles of wild beach while hunting seashells. Or, silently pondering the precarious flight of a pink Flamingo while Pelicans dive in pursuit of their meals. Evenings are spent in quiet conversation amongst friends as the sun melts away into the Gulf of Mexico.

The little village of Holbox boasts nearly 1500 inhabitants, most of whom are fishermen and have tremendous pride in their natural paradise. With limited tourism, some have turned guide and delight in showing off the dolphins, the pink Flamingos and other water birds, which live in the Yalahau lagoon. Local boats can also take you on fishing excursion for grouper, sea trout or Wahoo.
